Idukki girl’s murder: Culprit's confessional note claims killed for having another love affair

Police have found the confessional note of the suspected culprit in the death of a 17-year-old plus-two student near Pallivasal powerhouse. The police recovered a 10-page-letter from the rented house where Arun (Anu), the suspected culprit was staying. According to the police, Arun wrote this letter to his friends.

According to the letter, Arun and Reshma were in a relationship for years and she started to avoid him when she fell in love with another one. In the letter, he further states that he will kill Reshma and after the murder, no one will see him. However, according to investigators, Arun's plan was to commit suicide after murdering Reshma.

On Sunday, the police recovered part of the mobile containing the SIM from the scene of the murder. The battery and back part of the phone was also recovered.

The investigators and dog squad re-examined the incident scene for further evidence. The police dog, which inspected the spot, went straight from the place to the main road.

The 17-year-old Reshma was found dead near the Pallivasal powerhouse on Friday night. The family had lodged a complaint with the police when the girl did not return home after school hours. Later, the girl's body was found. She was stabbed in the chest. Though she was rushed to the hospital, the doctors declared her brought dead. The autorickshaw men near the area informed the police that a relative was present along with the girl.

Meanwhile, according to police, Reshma died due to a deep injury to her heart. There were injuries on her left arm and neck. It is suspected that a weapon like a chisel was used to murder her. Carpenter Arun used to carry a small chisel in his hand, claims his friends.

Also, Reshma tested positive for Covid-19. After the postmortem, Reshma's funeral was held at the family house in Vadattupara, Kothamangalam following Covid-19 protocols. The Health Department has directed to close the Bison Valley School where Reshma studied for 4 days.
