Cricket Australia has announced its Test Squad for upcoming India’s tour to Australia. Victorian batsman Will Pucovski and Western Australia’s all-rounder Cameron Green have been included in the Australian Test side that will be taking on India in the Border-Gavaskar series commencing on December 17. Australian pacer Pat Cummins will continue as skipper Tim Paine’s deputy.

Pucovski has been shattering batting records in Sheffield Shield and he is the leading run-scorer in the tournament. Former Australian captains such as Ian Chappell, Michael Clarke, and Kim Hughes have said that the Victorian-based batsmen will be ready for the test series when India tours Australia.

Cameron Green has been making the most of his long-awaited return to cricket, as he is the leading wicket-taker in the Sheffield Shield this year and has picked up three 5-fers and one 4-fers. Green returned to Sheffield Shield after not playing cricket since last year due to lower back concerns.

The last time India toured Australia, India won the Border-Gavaskar series 2-1, scripting history, as it was their first-ever Test series win Down Under. However, this time, Australia will have the services of David Warner and Steve Smith, who weren’t part of the squad in 2018-19 as they were serving their one-year ban due to the ball-tampering scandal.

The test squad: Sean Abbott, Joe Burns, Pat Cummins, Cameron Green, Josh Hazlewood, Travis Head, Marnus Labuschagne, Nathan Lyon, Michael Neser, Tim Paine (c), James Pattinson, Will Pucovski, Steve Smith, Mitchell Starc, Mitchell Swepson, Matthew Wade, David Warner
