Golf legend Tiger Woods undergoes surgery for severe leg injuries following a car accident in Los Angeles. According to Los Angeles County Sheriff Alex Villanueva said the fifteen 15-time golf champion injuries are not life-threatening.

According to reports, Woods (45) was rushed to Harbour-UCLA Medical Center after his car veered off the road and rolled down a steep hillside. Deputy Sheriff Carlos Gonzales was the first to reach the scene and described Woods as “calm and lucid”. Gonzales recognized after the golfing legend told the officer that he was Woods. At the time of discovery, Woods was wearing his seatbelt.

According to reports, Woods’ agent Mark Steinberg said that Woods has multiple leg injuries and was undergoing surgery. However, some reports suggest that the extent of Woods’ injuries is unknown. In his golfing career, Woods has a history of back and knee injuries in the last few years. It is not clear if this accident would affect Woods’ golfing career or aggravated those injuries.

While the cause of the accident is still under investigation, the LA County Sheriff said that Woods there are no signs suggesting that Woods, who was driving the car, was under any influence. He also ruled out the possibility of the weather being a factor.

According to reports, the Sheriff informed that the stretch of road where Woods’ accident took place is known for its sloppy terrain and curves and an accident-prone area. The LA County Sheriffs said in a statement that Woods’ car sustained major damages. “Woods was extracted from the wreck with the “jaws of life” by the Los Angeles firefighters and paramedics, then transported to a local hospital by ambulance,” the statement read.
