Mohanlal makes directorial debut with Barozz

Mollywood superstar Mohanlal is all set to sit on the director’s chair. Barozz, a big budget 3D fantasy project, will reportedly feature an international cast, with actors from Spain, US, Portugal and Ghana. The film is written by director Jijo Punnoose, best known for directing two landmark films in Malayalam cinema – Padayottam and My Dear Kuttichathan. Cinematographer-filmmaker Santosh Sivan took to Twitter and wrote, "Starting 'Barozz' in March with Mohanlal in director's chair."

Mohanlal’s recent release is Drishyam 2 which is streaming on Amazon Prime Video. The movie directed by Jeethu Joseph chronicles the struggle of Georgekutty, played by Mohanlal, and his family who come under suspicion when the son of the Inspector General of Police gets killed. The film, a sequel to Drishyam, has been lauded by celebrities and fans around the world for its brilliance and performance. Meanwhile, Jeethu has begun work on remaking it into other languages. The first to go on floors will be the Telugu version. Jeethu also plans to direct the Tamil and Hindi versions according to reports. The Telugu remake of Malayalam movie Drishyam 2 is all set to go on floors in March with actor Venkatesh Daggubati returning to play the lead. According to sources, Ajay Devgn and Kumar Mangat had decided to buy the rights to remake Drishyam 2. Ajay will return with Tabu for Drishyam 2 and the makers are eyeing to go on the floors around the last quarter of 2021 after Ajay wraps up work on his other films.
