
Vijay Sethupathi, who was supposed to make his debut with Aamir Khan’s Laal Singh Chaada, will instead do so with Lokesh Kanagaraj’s Maanagaram.
This Bollywood remake of the Tamil action thriller about the lives of four youngsters who arrive in a big city becoming interlinked will be directed by ace cinematographer Santhosh Sivan. The title of the movie, which also stars Vikrant Massey, Sanjay Mishra, Ranvir Shorey, and Sachin Khedekar, will only be revealed on January 1, 3 pm.
Vijay, who started his film career working as a background actor, playing minor supporting roles for over five years, before donning his first lead role in Seenu Ramasamy’s Thenmerku Paruvakkatru, has film Master all set to release on January 13, 2021. A Vijay-starrer, the Tamil film which has been certified as a U/A film, will feature Vijay as a professor and Vijay as the antagonist. Malavika Mohan is the female lead in the film. Master will be released in Hindi and Telugu as well. Vijay, who was last seen on-screen playing dual roles in Bigil, the highest-grossing Tamil film of 2019, has signed up for a tentatively titled web series called Gavar. An action thriller, the project, which also has Shahid Kapoor in a lead role, goes on floors next month.
Meanwhile, Massey, whose Facebook and Instagram accounts were hacked took to his Twitter profile to say, “Hi, bringing in this New Year with the title launch of my latest film by ace director @santoshsivan on 1st Jan’21 @ 3 pm. According to producer Shibu Thameens, Massey will be seen playing a young angry man in Bollywood remake of Maanagaram, a role that is completely different from anything that he has done so far.
