Kangana Ranaut has received a rape threat from an Odisha-based lawyer. The actor, who is currently in her hometown Manali, is yet to respond.
The actress had written about an FIR filed against her in Mumbai after which the lawyer allegedly wrote the derogatory remarks in the comments section. She had written: “Who all are fasting on Navratris? Pictures clicked from today’s celebrations as I am also fasting, meanwhile another FIR filed against me, Pappu sena in Maharashtra seems to be obsessing over me, don’t miss me so much I will be there soon #Navratri.”
The lawyer, who claims his account was hacked, has since deleted his Facebook account. However, screenshots of his comment are going viral on social media platforms.
He wrote: “Today my Facebook ID got hacked at evening and some derogatory comments get posted. This is my not views regarding any women or any community. I am also very shocked and apologise for it. I request to all the people of kindly accept my apology and forgive me whose sentiments got hurt. I am really sorry for it.” The lawyer subsequently deleted his Facebook account.
The lawyer came under intense backlash over his alleged remarks as people called him out for his behaviour on social media. People have started calling for his arrest and are urging Odisha chief minister Naveen Patnaik to take action against the erring lawyer.
The FIR that Kangana had mentioned in her post was filed by the Mumbai Police against the actor and her sister Rangoli Chandel for spreading communal tension through their tweets.
The complainant has alleged that the actor has been defaming Bollywood since the last two months by calling it a "hub of nepotism", "favouritism", etc, through her tweets and television interviews.
Kangana isn't the only high-profile victim of such bestial threats in recent days; actor Vijay Sethupathi's daughter received a rape threat over the Muttiah Muralitharan biopic row, while cricketer MS Dhoni's daughter was similarly threatened after her father - who plays for the Chennai Super Kings in the ongoing IPL - lost a match.
