It's a girl for Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma
Anuskha Sharma and Virat Kohli turned proud parents to a baby girl on Monday. Sharing the same in an official statement, Virat on Twitter said, “We are thrilled to share with you all that we have been blessed with a baby girl this afternoon. We thank you all for your love, prayers and good wishes. Anushka and the baby are both healthy and we are feeling beyond blessed to start this new chapter of our lives.”
Virushka, as their fans address them fondly, announced that they are adding another member to the family last August. In identical tweets, they had written, “And then, we were three! Arriving Jan 2021 ❤️.”
Ever since the announcement, Anushka Sharma has been sharing her thoughts about this new journey in life. She had shared a photo flaunting her baby bump and wrote, “Nothing is more real & humbling than experiencing creation of life in you. When this is not in your control then really what is?”
The actor, however, drew flak when she posted a picture of a heavily pregnant her, performing Shirshasana with Virat’s support.
In the last few days, the couple were snapped making frequent visits to a clinic. Since, Anushka and Virat are popular public figures, the actress had recently expressed that they don’t want to raise a child in the public eye. She also said in an interview that parenthood is about sharing duties. According to reports, the couple have also got an animal themed nursery readied for their first born.
Virat Kohli, who was on tour with the national team in Australia, returned to India after the first Test, as BCCI granted him paternity leave upon request. He has been by the side of his wife Anushka Sharma since then.
Anushka and Virat tied the knot on December 11, 2017, in Italy. The wedding saw only family and close friends in attendance. On the work front, Anushka recently produced Amazon Prime Video original web series Pataal Lok and Netflix film Bulbbul under her production house Clean Slate Films. The actress in an interview said she plans to return to the sets post delivery. While Virushka fans are speculating as to what the couple will name their daughter, rumour on social media is that they have decided to call her Anvi.
Meanwhile congratulatory messages have been flooding the duo’s post. Cricketer Suresh Raina in a Tweet said, “Daughters are the biggest blessing to those who are the luckiest! Congratulations @anushkasharma @imVkohli and welcome to the wonderful world of parenting . (Sic)”, while cricketing legend Sachin Tendulkar tweeted “Congratulations @imVkohli & @AnushkaSharma on the arrival of the little angel in your lives! May her life be blessed with good health & love (Sic)”
Actress Neha Dhupia replying to Virat's post on Instagram said, "Heartiest congratulations to you both @virat.kohli @anushkasharma God bless the beautiful family ♥️ (Sic)", while singer Shreya Ghoshal wrote, "Heartiest congratulations to you both @virat.kohli @anushkasharma God bless the beautiful family ♥️ (Sic)"
