Kareena Kapoor Khan and Saif Ali Khan welcomed their second child on Sunday. Saif, in a statement, thanked well-wishers for their love and support. The statement read, “We have been blessed with a baby boy. Mom and baby are safe and healthy. Thank you to our well-wishers for their love and support.”
The star couple had announced the pregnancy in August. Just like her first pregnancy, this time too Kareena didn't take a break from her work. The actress was shooting for back-to-back projects even during pregnancy. Kareena was admitted to Breach Candy Hospital, Mumbai, on Saturday evening and on Sunday morning at 8:30, she gave birth to a boy.
The couple has been gearing up for the arrival of the child for quite some time. They had moved to a new, bigger house, near their old house.
Their first child, son Taimur Ali Khan, is four. Taimur has been an Internet sensation ever since his birth and is followed by the paparazzi round-the-clock.
Saif Ali Khan married Kareena in October 2012 after a 5-year long courtship. Saif was previously married to actress Amrita Singh with whom he has daughter Sara Ali Khan (25) and son Ibrahim Ali Khan (19).
Celebrities like Neetu Kapoor, Manish Malhotra, Neha Dhupia, Dia Mirza and many others congratulated the couple.
Kareena Kapoor's sister and actress Karishma Kapoor took to Instagram and shared an old picture and wrote, "That's my sis when she was a new born and now she's a mama once again!! And I'm a masi again so excited. #goodwishes #congratulations #onlylove"
Alia Bhatt shared a picture of Saif Ali Khan, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Taimur and wrote, "Congratulations bebo and said and my little Timtim.. can't wait to meet your baby brother."
Indian comedian Danish Sait took to Twitter to upload a hilarious video spoofing how the media would react to the birth of Kareena and Saif’s child.
Some fans have taken to guessing the name of their child. Taimur's name was a source of a lot of debate, with many being critical of it, claiming that it was inspired by Turkish invader, Timur. Saif had denied the claims, saying that Taimur means iron, which is what had attracted the couple to the name.
Meanwhile on the work front, Kareena will be starring in Advait Chandan's Laal Singh Chaddha, with Aamir Khan. The film is a remake of the Hollywood blockbuster Forrest Gump. She also has Karan Johar's magnum opus Takht in the pipeline. Saif, on the other hand, will be seen in Bhoot Police and Adipurush.
