A chance to star alongside Telugu actor Prabhas is every fan’s dream come true. Giving the fans a chance to turn into reality is Salaar, an upcoming film by the actor, which is produced under the Hombale Films banner and directed by KGF director Prashanth Neel.

Tipped to be an action saga, the film features Prabhas as a character called Salaar.

“An Action Saga #SALAAR. THE MOST VIOLENT MEN. CALLED ONE MAN. THE MOST VIOLENT! For the love of cinema, breaking the fence of languages, presenting to you an Indian Film. Dearest welcome to darling #Prabhas sir (sic),” Prashanth wrote. He went on to drop another hint with ‘SALAAR: The right-hand man to a king, a general.’

Actor Mohanlal is reportedly starring in the film too, and reports suggest that the Mollywood superstar was offered Rs 20 crore to play a crucial role in the film.

However, it is an announcement by the makers of the film that had social media abuzz. The makers announced an open audition at Hyderabad, Chennai and Bengaluru.

The open audition held in Hyderabad today saw a long line in front of the old Alind factory at Serilingampalli.

Those who can’t make it to the audition have been encouraged to send in a one-minute act video to casting.salaar@gmail.com According to a released statement by the makers, there is no age bar, and people can send their videos in any language. No TikTok videos or other related videos will not be entertained, though.

The next upcoming open audition venues are Bengaluru and Chennai, on which the audition dates will be announced soon, said the release.

According to reports, Prashanth Neel and Hombale Films faced backlash for ignoring talents from Sandalwood and for roping in Telugu actor Prabhas instead for the film. The open audition is a peace offering by the makers to soothe public anger.

Salaar is expected to release during Christmas 2021 in Kannada, Malayalam, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu. It is said to go on floors by January 2021.

Prabhas, in the meantime, is wrapping up Radhe Shyam, an upcoming Telugu period romantic drama. The actor will be working with Deepika Padukone in a multi-lingual science fiction film by Nag Ashwin early next year.
