In a landmark move, the Kerala IPS Association has elected senior IPS officer and State DGP and Commandant General of Fire Force R Sreelekha as the president of the association and IG (South Zone) Harshitha Attalluri as its secretary. It is for the first time that women have been elected as key office bearers of the association.

The office bearers were elected as per the new bylaw. Although Rishiraj Singh, DGP (prisons and correctional services) was first choice for the position, Sreekala was selected for the post when Rishiraj expressed unwillingness to be president of the association.
