As the farmers’ protest against the three contentious farm laws tightens in the nation’s capital, Thiruvananthapuram MP Shashi Tharoor has joined his party colleagues from Punjab protest at Jantar Mantar today. The Congress leader is participating in the dharna demanding the withdrawal of the three farm laws as well as for holding the winter session of the Parliament.

“Joined my Parliament colleagues Jasbir Singh Gill and Gurjeet Singh Auja in their dharna to support the farmers’ protests and demand a Winter Session of Parliament to discuss the issue. Government of India’s stubborn refusal to consult stakeholders before taking decisions is self-defeating,” he said. Both the MPs

The protest was joined by many party MLAs and leaders, and Gurjeet Singh told media that the Punjab Congress is with the farmers and it is their responsibility to support the farmers.

Meanwhile, Punjab Deputy Inspector General (Prisons) Lakhminder Singh Jakhar has resigned from his protest in support of the protesting farmers. “I am a farmer first and a police officer later. Whatever positions I have today is because my father worked hard as a farmer and helped me study. I owe everything to farming,” he said.
