According to reports, the on-going legal battles between Kunta Srinivas and Vamana Rao was the prime reason behind the murder. Vamana Rao had raised objection against the construction of a house by Kunta Srinivas. Also, Rao had stopped the construction of a temple of the local deity by Kunta stating the construction as illegal and there was a dispute between the two over a committee for a local Rama Temple.

On Wednesday afternoon, lawyer couple G Vaman Rao and his wife G Nagamani, who practised at the Telangana High Court were waylaid by unidentified assailants while they were on their way to Hyderabad. The attackers pulled the couple out of their vehicle and hacked them to death.

According to reports, a week ago, Vaman Rao has taken a minor girl to the State Human Rights Commission when she was allegedly raped by her uncle and the police were accused of dragging the case. Witnesses shot videos of the incident on Wednesday but did not offer any help to the couple.
