Rahul Gandhi stands third among top 10 most helpful MPs during the lockdown: Survey

In a recent survey, Wayanad MP Rahul Gandhi has stood third among 10 Lok Sabha Members of Parliament (MPs) for extending maximum assistance to their respective constituency during this year’s Covid-19 induced lockdown. BJP’s Ujjain MP Anil Firojiya and YSRCP’s Nellore MP Adala Prabhakara Reddy took the top 2 positions, respectively.

A New Delhi-based citizen engagement platform, GovernEye Systems conducted the survey which was launched October 1, 2020. Reportedly, 25 MPs were shortlisted for this survey based on the nominations received. According to a news report, the top 10 Lok Sabha MPs were picked based on ground interviews and the feedback received from their respective constituencies. The GovernEye has said that a total of 33,82,560 nominations were received for 512 Lok Sabha MPs between October 1 and October 15, 2020.

According to the survey, the top 10 Lok Sabha MPs are BJP’s Anil Firojaya, YSRCP’s Adala Prabhakara Reddy, Congress’ Rahul Gandhi, TMC’s Mahua Moitra, BJP’s Tejasvi Surya, Shiv Sena’s Hemant Tukaram Godse, SAD’s Sukhbir Singh Badal, BJP’s Shankar Lalwani, DMK’s Dr T Sumathy (a) Thamizhachi Thangapandian and BJP’s Nitin Gadkari.

In a statement, Manjunath Keri, the Senior Project Lead of the survey team, said, “The results don’t reveal the stories of courage and selflessness of these MPs that our teams heard during their conversations with people across various constituencies. For all the negative publicity our elected representatives get, we don’t hear the stories of how some MPs and their teams risked their personal safety to serve their constituency.”

When the lockdown was imposed across the country, all states were severely hit. Irrespective of the party the MP belongs to, it is their duty to look after the people of their constituency. During the lockdown, the most important items are masks, hand sanitizer, thermometers and ventilators. Because of the sudden lockdown, many districts across the country suffered short supply of the above-mentioned items. Reportedly, when Wayanad suffered from such short supply of such items, Rahul immediately rushed these essential items to his constituency and made sure that Wayanad faced no shortcomings in the fight against Covid-19.
