In a shocking incident, a man out on bail in a 2018 sexual assault case has allegedly shot dead the survivor's father in Hathras District in Uttar Pradesh on Monday.
According to reports, the Hathras Police said an argument broke out between the survivor’s family and the accused. During the argument, the accused and his accomplices shot the father. He died en route to the hospital.
The Hathras Police said in a social media post that the accused, Gaurav Sharma along with his friends shot the girl’s father, Awanish Sharma. He was seriously injured and died on the way to the hospital. Police arrested one of the accused, Lalit Sharma and are looking for the other three. Police have identified Rohitash Sharma, Nikhil Sharma and Gaurav. Reportedly, Gaurav is a leader of the Samajwadi Party.
The daughter of the deceased filed an FIR against the accused. The young woman alleged she and her mother took lunch for her father working in their potato field. At that moment, Gaurav, Lalit, Rohitash and Nikhil reached the spot and asked the father to settle the matter and take back the case filed in 2018. Reportedly, before the father could respond, the accused shot him. He died on the way to the hospital.
In 2018, the lady’s father had filed a molestation case against Gaurav. Police took him into custody and released him on bail after a month.
