Gold worth Rs 7 Crore looted from Muthoot Finance branch in Tamil Nadu’s Hosur

In a shocking incident of broad daylight robbery, a five-member armed group robbed gold worth nearly Rs 7.5 Crore and Rs 96,000 from a Muthoot Finance branch at Hosur in Tamil Nadu. Just like from a scene in a movie, the attackers held the staff at gunpoint before looting the office lockers. Reportedly, the gang even took away the digital video recorder of the CCTV cameras from the branch.

The men — wore helmets to hide their identity — entered the office at around 9:30 am. According to the police, the gang first beat up the security guard and then took him along with them to the office. Then they attacked the office manager and four other staff members at gunpoint. The Superintendent of Police Bandi Gangadhar visited the crime scene and an investigation is underway.

In 2019, in a similar way, a computer engineer of Muthoot Finance was killed in Nashik by a gang of armed and masked robbers. The incident took place at the Muthoot Finance’s office near City Centre Mall in the Untwadi area of Nashik. The deceased was 32-year-old Sajju Samuel from Kerala. During the incident, including the branch manager, three employees were injured.
