
On Wednesday, the Congress party has appointed senior leaders as senior observers for overseeing election campaign in the upcoming Assembly elections are going to take place in four states and one Union Territory this year.
In a press release, All India Congress Committee general secretary KC Venugopal said, “Honorable Congress President Sonia Gandhi has appointed following leaders as senior observers for overseeing election campaign management and coordination in states where assembly election is going to be held in 2021.”
Venugopal also said that the leaders will be discharging their duties in close coordination with AICC general secretaries and in-charges of respective states. Assam, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and West Bengal are all going to polls this year.
Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel along with Mukul Wasnik and Shakeel Ahmad Khan will be overseeing the election campaign in Assam.
Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot along with former Goa CM Luizinho Falerio and former Karnataka Deputy CM G Parameswara will be overseeing Kerala's election campaign.
Former Karnataka CM M Veerappa Moily along with former Union Minister MM Pallam Raju and Maharashtra Cabinet Minister Nitin Raut will be overseeing the campaign in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.
MP BK Hariprasad along with MLA Alamgir Alam and Punjab Education Minister Vijay Inder Singla will be overseeing West Bengal election campaign.
Congress will be hoping to do well in the upcoming state assembly elections. The party will be aiming to return to power in Kerala as the United Democratic Front and remain incumbent in Puducherry.
