Popular Mollywood director and actor Major Ravi has levelled serious allegations against the farmer protests. Going live on Facebook, he claimed that there is a political agenda behind this protest and that the three contentious farm laws will be entirely beneficial for the farmers.
He said, “There is a political agenda behind the farmers’ protest. We all know it. I have heard that somebody sought clarification on whether farmers will be allowed to question the denial of money from corporate companies. The protest will not end even after the Prime Minister clarifies this matter.”

He added that the new farm laws would benefit the farmers. “The bill assures that the farmers will not lose money they have invested in agriculture. For example, if a farmer invests Rs 20 for farming onion, corporate companies will ensure that they are ready to pay Rs 25 to the farmers. While harvesting, the farmers will get Rs 25 even after the price of the onion falls to Rs 10. However, if the price increases to Rs 30 to 40, the farmers will not get any money more than the fixed Rs 25,” he says. He even stressed that it is not clear whether the corporates will take responsibility for the payment of the assured amount as per the new farm law.

Earlier, the Bharatiya Janata Party alleged that the Khalistanis and Maoists’ agenda is being propagated under cover of farmers’ agitation and accused the Congress of aligning with radical elements.

The commuters to Delhi are advised to take the DND or Kalindi Kunj route. On Twitter, the Noida Traffic Police tweeted, “The Chila route is obstructed due to farmers’ sit-in demonstration at the Noida-Delhi border. Kindly use the alternative routes (DND or Kalindi Kunj) to reach your destination.”
Heavy security has been deployed on both Noida and Delhi sides, where hundreds of farmers belonging to Bharatiya Kisan Union and other groups have gathered at the border on Tuesday evening.
