With the Kerala Assembly elections just around the corner a few candidates from the state, have come up with innovative ways to spice up their poll campaigns. Kochi BJP candidate CG Rajagopal is wooing voters with songs. Rajagopal, fondly known as Muthu, has been a prominent presence in Kochi's socio-political realm for the past 24 years. He is the central zone secretary of BJP.

A post graduate in economics, Rajagopal, who hails from the Konkani community, says although he is not a poet, he enjoys penning down words. While speaking to a news agency, Rajagopal said that the songs he regales the voters with are his. “I write, tune and sing my songs,” he says.

Although LDF candidate KJ Maxi had won from the Kochi constituency in the last Assembly election, Rajagopal feels that the BJP has been able to improve its position in Kochi after every election. He claims that the BJP would win in Kochi by defeating the left and right fronts. Rajagopal had contested in the Kochi Corporation elections (2005), and Assembly elections in 2011 and 2019.
