DMK trending in Tamil Nadu; NDA in Puducherry

As per current trends, DMK is leading in 36 constituencies in Tamil Nadu, followed close by AIADM in 11 seats. According to exit polls, DMK is predicted a landslide victory. In the 234-seat House, a party needs at least 118 seats to win the election. The AIADMK, which has been in power since 2011, hopes to continue its hold on the state for another term.

While the AIADMK is in alliance with the BJP, the DMK has formed a tie-up with Congress. And while these two alliances are the top contenders, added to the mix was actor-politician Kamal Haasan’s Makkal Needhi Maiam.

Meanwhile, counting of votes polled in the April 6 Assembly elections in Puducherry have begun. Early trends indicate that NDA is leading in 5 seats, and Congress in just one.
