Former PWD minister VK Ebrahim Kunju will continue in judicial custody for the next two weeks in connection with the Palarivattom flyover scam. The Muvattupuzha Vigilance Court has issued an order in this regard. Kunju, who is currently undergoing treatment in Lakeshore Hospital, will continue the custody there.
On November 30, the Vigilance officials had questioned Ebrahim Kunju with special permission from the Court at the hospital. Today, the Court has considered the report submitted by the Vigilance following the agency’s questioning.
The Vigilance report states that Ebrahim Kunju did not fully cooperate with the questioning. The former minister refused to respond to the officials’ question regarding the purpose of giving Rs 8.5 Crore as advance to the company even though the interest was low. The Vigilance had requested the Court to allow more time to question Ebrahim Kunju in this matter.
Later, the Court passed the order after having a video call with Ebrahim Kunju. The Court observed that Ebrahim Kunju’s health condition is very poor, and he needs to undergo chemotherapy on Thursday. On this background, the Court extended his remand for another two weeks.
