Despite numerous incidents at Elamkulam in Kochi, another youngster lost his life in yet another accident at the sharp curve in the area. Officials have identified the deceased as Sanal Sathyan, reportedly a Thodupuzha native, whose bike lost control and hit a cement slab on the roadside at 6:30 in the morning. Reports claim that Sanal’s bike was damaged beyond repair, and the pillion rider sustained minor injuries in the incident.

According to sources, this is the ninth such incident at the exact spot within seven months. Police note that all of the victims were bike riders, and emphasised that two-wheelers are especially vulnerable at this sharp curve. According to locals, the curve poses a serious problem to all riders, regardless of whether the person is new or familiar with it.

Almost a week ago, two youngsters were killed after their two-wheeler lost control and hit the streetlight pole on the median at the same spot. Police identified the deceased as Vishal and Sumesh, and according to sources, both were residents of the Kudumbi colony at Elamkulam. Reportedly, the youngsters were travelling to Vyttila when the driver lost control of the motorcycle and hit the pole. The duo was thrown off the vehicle under the impact of the collision. Even though immediate responders rushed Vishal and Sumesh to the hospital, their lives could not be saved.
