During a demonstration marking the second death anniversary of Kripesh and Sarath Lal, Youth Congress activists raised death threat slogans against Uduma MLA. The death threat slogans were raised against K Kunhiraman MLA and other CPM leaders. The visuals of the demonstration have been widely circulated on social media.

The controversial Periya twin murder case pertains to the murder of 22-year-old Kripesh and 24-year-old Sharath Lal, two Youth Congress workers in Kerala’s Kasaragod. CPI(M) local leader Peethambaran is the key accused in the murder of the duo which happened in February 2019.

The charge sheet had mentioned that the case was a murder involving politicians. The charge sheet was filed 90 days after the incident. A total of 14 accused involving CPM area secretary has been named in the case.
