While a cold wave is expected in the North of India, it’s a wet weather down South

A yellow alert has been issued in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam and Idukki districts

According to the Indian Meteorological Centre, a large part of the country is set to face intense cold conditions over the next couple of days. In fact, the weather department on Tuesday had issued an orange alert for the northern plains, which are said to witness foggy conditions.

Meanwhile, in the South, the Meteorological Centre has warned that there is a risk of isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall likely over Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Puducherry and Karaikal over the next few days. In Kerala, a yellow alert has been issued in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam and Idukki districts.

Fishermen have been advised to not go to sea as strong winds of 45 to 55 kmph are expected off the coast of Kerala. The Central Meteorological Department has forecast strong winds and speeds of 45 to 55 kmph the coast of Lakshadweep, Maldives and Kanyakumari off the coast of Kerala.
