Thrissur Pooram is likely to take place at the Vadakkunnathan Shiva temple in Thrissur district on April 23, 2021. Minister VS Sunil Kumar said that considering the Covid-19 situation in Kerala, a final decision would be taken.
“A final decision would be taken after studying the Covid-19 situation in the state,” said Kumar, adding that a committee will be formed to study the Covid-19 situation. The committee will study the situation and submit a final report to the state government for final approval. “If we get the approval, the Thrissur Pooram celebrations will be conducted grandly,” Kumar added.
Kumar held a meeting with Devaswom board officials and representatives of police, health and forest department. Thrissur Collector S Shanavas said that a proper plan for crowd management could be in place considering the temple area.
It was the first time in 58 years that the Pooram was cancelled last year considering the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic. The government and fans would be hoping that the cases will go down further so that Thrissur Pooram can be held grandly.
