According to reports, Kozhikode police arrested Saritha S Nair in connection with the solar scam case. Saritha was arrested from Thiruvanathapuram by Kozhikode's Kasaba police. The arrested was based on an order issued by the Kozhikode Judicial Magistrate court.
The Court had directed the Kozhikode City Police Commissioner to arrest Saritha and the arrest was made at Saritha's residence in Thiruvananthapuram. Reportedly, she was now being taken to Kozhikode by road. According to reports, Saritha was continuously neglecting the warrants issued by the court in various cases of financial fraud related to the solar deal.
Reportedly, Kozhikode City Police Commissioner AV George confirmed the arrest. Saritha S Nair and Biju Radhakrishnan are accused of collecting Rs 42 lakh from Abdul Majeed, a private businessman in Kozhikode. This was one of the first registered cases regarding solar fraud. According to the case, Sairtha had swindled a large amount of money from different people in the name to install solar panels.
According to reports, it is learned that Saritha cannot be produced before the court today. The case, which was scheduled to be heard on March 23, was adjourned due to Saritha's absence. The Kerala police had heard criticisms for delaying Saritha's arrest even after courts issued multiple warrants against her.
Earlier, an audio clip that is claimed to be of Saritha states that Excise Minister TP Ramakrishnan and BevCo MD Sparjan Kumar were aware of the scam had surfaced. The audio clip was reportedly handed over to the police by the complainants. Saritha revealed the involvement of the minister and BevCo MD when the complainants raised doubts regarding the delay in appointment even after giving the money.
