According to reports, a father and son belonging to Scheduled Caste were brutally harassed by the officials at the Kottarakkara police station. The officials harassed the father by beating continuously on his cheeks and even tried to squeeze the son's testicles. The police brutality was against the duo when they went to take the vehicle involved in the accident from police custody.
The victims were identified as Sasi, a native of Thrikannamangal and his son Sarath. The duo reached the police station on Thursday afternoon to request the release of the vehicle they have taken into custody following an accident. Despite repeated requests, the police neglected the request. The police even tried to beat Sasi. The police harassed the duo when they tried to film the police brutality against Sasi on their mobile phones.
Following the brutality, Sarath is currently undergoing treatment at Kottarakkara Taluk Hospital for urinary incontinence. According to Sasi and Sarath, a police officer named Anil was the one who brutally harassed them.
The duo was released after the arrival of public activists at the police station. The victim's family has lodged a complaint with the Southern Region IG seeking strict action against the officials for harassing them mercilessly.
