Reportedly, a pregnant woman who was injured in an attack by CPI (M) party workers had lost her unborn baby today. Sheeba, a native of Vizhinjam, alleges that she lost her baby during an attack on her house by CPM workers.

On Tuesday, the CPM booth office in Vizhinjam was attacked. Outraged by the attack, a group of people led by the CPI (M) barged into Sheeba’s house, whose husband was a Congress worker, on Wednesday, alleges Sheeba. Later, due to severe bleeding, Sheeba was admitted to Vizhinjam Hospital this morning and later shifted to Thycaud hospital.

Trivandrum DCC President Neyyatinkara Sanal, who visited Sheeba at the hospital today, said that her family members had a terrible night following the attack by CPM workers. He added that the doctors claim that it is likely due to the injuries during the attack that Sheeba lost her baby.

This is not the first time such an incident is happening. In 2018, six people, including CPM Branch Secretary, were arrested for assaulting a pregnant woman in Kodenchery, Kozhikode. The woman, too, lost her unborn baby after the incident. Josna Baby, who lost her child, alleges that a group of people led by the CPI (M) branch secretary barged into their house and started to beat her husband over a land dispute. She said she was pulled down and kicked on her stomach when she tried to save her husband.
