Kerala Police arrested a 21-year-old youth for molesting a 14-year-old girl after befriending her over the phone. Sharon Dev, a resident of Chadayamangalam Nettathara in Kollam, was taken into custody.

According to police, after Sharon befriended the teen, he started visiting her house whenever her family was not present.

The teen's family lodged a complaint with the police after locals informed them about Sharon's visits.

During a medical examination, it came to light that the teenager was a victim of physical abuse. On this basis of this, police took Sharon into custody. The accused was produced before the court and later remanded in custody.

Meanwhile, in another incident, a case has been registered against six police officers, including former Chompala SI for allegedly barging into a house during the New Year Celebrations. The case was registered directly by the Vadakara First Class Judicial Magistrate. As a protest against former SI Prasobh, the CPM had organised a march to the police station for the detention of their party supporters. Later, the SI was transferred.

The incident took place on New Year's day at a house near the former AEO office in Chompala. The court has accepted the complaint filed by Akhila and Raji in Mavullathil alleging that the police officers barged into their house during New year celebration and created a commotion.
