Panoor murder case: House, vehicles of absconding accused PP Jabir set on fire

According to reports, the house of PP Jabir, one of the accused in the Panoor Mansoor murder case was attacked and set on fire. Reportedly, the attack happened on Tuesday early morning.

Jabir is the CPM Valluvakandi branch secretary and local committee member. Jabir is the tenth accused in the case relating to the murder of IUML activist Mansoor.

According to reports, the incident took place at Kannur's Mukkilpeedika at around 2 am today. The family members left the house when they saw the fire spreading in the shed behind their house. The fire force was notified and they reached the spot immediately. However, a nano car and scooter parked on the porch have been destroyed in the fire.

The CPM alleges that the vehicles were set on fire by the League activists. Jabir, the accused in the case is still absconding. Apart from Jabir, the other accused ones are CPM Peringalam local secretary NK Anoop, PUllukkara branch committee members Nasser and Ibrahim are still absconding.

Police reached the spot and conducted a detailed inspection. Reportedly, it has also been decided to increase security in the area. Till now, eight accused have been arrested in the Panoor murder case.

On April 6, IUML activist Paral Mansoor died in a clash between CPM and Muslim League workers in Kadavathoor, Kannur. He was hacked to death by a gang in the violence at around 8 pm on election day. A gang of alleged CPM workers barged into the house of Mansoor after creating a scary atmosphere by hurling bombs into the house. When the gang attacked Muhasin, his brother Mansoor tried to stop them and the attackers hacked Mansoor also.
