As Kerala inches towards its Assembly elections, the LDF and UDF are gearing up to meet and greet the people of the state. As part of advancing their electoral campaigning, the UDF will start its ‘Aishwarya Kerala Yatra’ lead by Opposition Leader Ramesh Chennithala. The event will start from Manjeshwaram in Kasargod on Sunday, paving the way “to overthrow the corrupt left government” and the building of a prosperous Kerala. Ramesh Chennithala, before the event, visited Mookambika Temple in Kollur earlier today.

The motto of the procession is “pure and good governance” and the main objective of the ‘yatra’ is to unite the democratic secular progressive forces to regain the prosperity of Kerala that was lost during the last five years of misrule by the Left government. The UDF will also use the event to present alternative development and reserve models to the people. Moreover, the event would also give the alliance a chance to bring together its various groups and leaders together to show the people a collective front.

The trip is also aimed at forming UDF’s election manifesto with the participation of the people. The procession will explain the current political issues facing the country and the state and the anti-people policies and corruption of the Central and state governments. Moreover, the procession will move from constituency to constituency interacting with the people and identifying their problems. The party leaders have informed that this will help them collect information to form a manifesto that echoes the desires and wants of the people rather than the declaration of a few members.

Former Chief Minister Oommen Chandy will inaugurate the procession at Manjeshwaram at 3 pm on Sunday while KPCC President Mullappally Ramachandran will preside over the function and AICC Secretary Tariq Anwar will be the chief guest. AICC General Secretary KC Venugopal, former Deputy Chief Minister of Karnataka G Parameswara, former Karnataka ministers UT Khader, Vinayakumar Sorake, Ramanath Rai, Indian Union Muslim League leader PK Kunhalikutty, Deputy Leader of the Opposition Dr MK Muneer, UDF convener MM Hassan and UDF leaders PJ Joseph, AA Aziz, Anoop Jacob, CP John, G Devarajan, John John, K Sudhakaran and Rajmohan Unnithan will be present.

The 23-day long procession will reach Thiruvananthapuram on February 22. Senior Congress leader and Wayanad MP Rahul Gandhi will inaugurate the concluding rally in Thiruvananthapuram.
