Nun found dead in quarry pond near Vazhakkala in Kochi

A 45-year-old nun from a convent in Kochi was found dead at a quarry pond in Vazhakkala South late on Sunday evening. The deceased was identified as Sister Jessina Thomas from Idukki.

According to reports, Sister Jessina was reported missing from St.Thomas Convent at noon. Later, the police got information that a body was found dead at the quarry. The following probe identified the body as that of sister Jessina. However, the body has been shifted to a nearby hospital for conducting the Covid-19 test.

Also, reportedly, the mother superior of the convent had informed the police that the nun was undergoing treatment for depression for the last 11 years.

The cause of death will be known only after a post-morterm is done, said the police. The probe is underway and a case of unnatural death has been registered.

Meanwhile, in another incident, a 70-year-old woman was found abandoned by her daughter at Nandurkonam in Thiruvananthapuram. Savitri was abandoned by her daughter and husband in a rented house. On Friday, the couple left the house after handing over the key to the house owner. Neighbours later heard a sound from the house and found the old woman in the house. Last July, they rented the house.
