As the controversy surrounding the Adani-KSEB deal thickens, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan told the media that the Opposition Leader is spreading lies about the deal, and clarified that KSEB acquired the required energy from Solar Energy Corporation of India and not Adani Green Energy. However, the SECI has sourced the energy units from the Adani group, and the KSEB is buying the same for reportedly exorbitant rates. However, Ramesh Chennithala claimed that more details would be revealed later.
Making his stand clear, Ramesh said, “The Kerala government is trying to mislead the people by giving Adani a chance to loot the state for 25 years. Electricity Minister MM Mani claimed that he knew nothing about the deal, but CM Pinarayi Vijayan is directly behind the deal as part of his alliance with Adani.” MM Mani and Pinarayi had claimed that there was something wrong with the Opposition Leader for him to be making such “tall claims”. “They said the same thing when I was talking about Sprinklr and the EMCC deep-sea fishing deals. However, my allegations turned out to be true, and I delivered on the evidence,” Ramesh added.
The Congress is highlighting the BJP’s links with Adani and to the LDF and to the alleged corruption in the state government’s deal with Adani. Chennithala is trying to cut the government by repeating the allegations made by AICC spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala about the deal. The Adani Group’s contract to buy power from Windmill for Rs 8,550 Crore for 25 years has been accused of massive corruption. However, the state government is facing the problem by pointing out that the price of electricity from non-conventional energy sources is high. Moreover, KSEB claimed that the state government had nothing to do with the deal as it was made by the Board with SECI and not Adani.
