Minor Kerala girl drugged, rapped repeatedly in own house

Meanwhile, a Kerala teacher breaks her student’s wrist with a cane; seeks out of court settlement

Two men have been arrested for drugging and raping a 14-year-girl in Malappuram. The POSCO case has seven accused and the police has strengthened the search for the rest.

The main accused is a man the young girl befriended on Instagram. The man is said to have her gotten hooked to drugs such as ganja and hashish oil. He reportedly started sexually abusing her once he got her hooked on drugs and began blackmailing her. His friends also abused her.

What is shocking is that the class nine student was raped in her own house at night. She would open the door for them secretly. They drugged her and sexually abuse her in her house repeatedly for months. The girl’s father is working abroad and her mother, an invalid. The girl is currently in the custody of the Child Welfare Committee (CMC) and been shifted to a shelter home. According to officials of the CMC, the girl is showing withdrawal symptoms.

Meanwhile, abuse against children occurs within government institutions within the state as well. A police complaint has been registered today against a teacher of Aluva Kuttamassery Government High School for allegedly breaking the wrist of a student with a cane. According to reports, the principal of the school admitted that the child was beaten, but said that the wrist wasn’t broken by the teacher.

The incident took place on February 17. According to the complaint, Mariamma used a cane to repeatedly hit the student on the hand when he gave an incorrect answer during a Mathematics class. The victim's mother claims that the school authorities and some policemen are trying for an out of court settlement.
