Mannar police arrest five more people in Kerala woman abduction case

The Mannar Police have arrested five people in connection with the abduction case of a woman named Bindu, who was allegedly abducted by a gang connected to a gold smuggling racket and released later near Vadakancherry in Palakkad on the same day.

According to reports, the police have arrested five people on Friday, which includes Abdul Fahad of Ponnani, Ansar of Paravoor in Ernakulam, Bino Varghese of Thiruvalla, Sivaprasad of Kadapra village and Subheer of Kadapra village (in Thiruvalla). So far, the police have made six arrests in the case. Earlier, the police arrested Peter Jacob of Alappuzha.

Reportedly, Bindu is accused of having links to a gold smuggling racket while she came out saying she was innocent. However, according to reports, she used to be the 'carrier' of gold in the past.

However, on Wednesday, Bindu told that while on her way back to Kerala from Dubai, a man called Haneefa had handed over a packet that was supposed to be picked up by someone.

On realizing that gold was inside, Bindu discarded the packet at the Mali airport on transit. She further claims that she had been followed and threatened by men since she came to Kerala. The family was planning to file a complaint however, before that, she was abducted. Reportedly, the gang that kidnapped her had assaulted and also snatched her gold jewellery.
