Man shot dead in Kannur over alleged dispute with neighbour

A 50-year-old man was shot dead by his neighbour allegedly over some dispute at Cherupuzha in Kannur today. The deceased was identified as Kanamvayal native Kongalayil Baby and the incident happened today at around 8 am.

According to reports, the residents informed the police that Baby was shot dead by his neighbour Vadathuruthel Tomy. Police have launched an investigation to nab the accused who is absconding after committing the crime. It is primarily believed that a dispute between both neighbours resulted in the incident.

After completing all the proceedings, the body was shifted to a private hospital in Cherupuzha and later shifted to Pariyaram medical college for post-mortem.

Ahead of the upcoming Kerala Assembly elections, all the licensed guns were surrendered in the police station. However, the police have been probing about the license of the gun that was used for the crime. The village where the incident took place is close to the Karnataka reserve forest near the Kerala-Karnataka border.
