Liquor prices to increase in Kerala from February 1

Liquor prices in Kerala will see an increase by Rs 50 to Rs 150 in proportion to the quantity. The price of beer and wine price will however, remain the same as last year.

Kerala State Beverages Corporation Limited (BEVCO) have already sent a letter in this matter asking the supply companies to give their consent within two days.

Earlier, the distribution companies have demanded that the price of alcohol be increased following an increase in the price of raw materials used for the production of alcohol. They had even submitted new tenders but the decision was postponed in the wake of pandemic.

BEVCO has announced an increase of 7% in supply contract for companies, which are currently in contract with them. However, just for this year, the new brands will receive a reduction of 5% in the offered amount. Also, the existing brands will be given suffixes Strong, Premium and Deluxe, but they are not permitted to increase the price.
