Life Mission scam: Top Kerala government officials accepted bribes, claims CBI

The Central Bureau of Investigation has filed an appeal in the Supreme Court against the Kerala government's appeal alleging that the CBI probe into the Life Mission case violated federal principles. CBI alleges international conspiracy in financial dealings related to the Life Mission Project. In addition, the CBI alleges that top government officials had taken bribes.

The investigating agency further said that it needs to investigate irregularities relating to the foreign donations that were accepted. According to reports, Santhosh Eepan in his statement agreed that he had paid a bribe to get the Life Mission contract.

CBI further claims that many transactions in the contract have been done in violation of the legal provisions and top government officials had accepted bribes.

Meanwhile, Unitac MD Santhosh Eepan has approached the Supreme Court against the CBI probe in the Life Mission Case. He claims that there was no violation in accepting foreign donations. Earlier, he was arrested by the CBI.

The Kerala government's Life Mission project was a housing scheme for the homeless and landless and also has a hospital project at Vadakkanchery. The opposition parties had alleged that several political leaders and officers had accepted huge sums as commission for implementing the project.
