Kochi: With a second spike in Covid-19 cases in Kerala, travel restrictions and the pandemic showing no signs of abatement in India, the Kochi Biennale Foundation have decided to move the opening of the fifth edition of the Kochi-Muziris Biennale to November 1, 2021. Initially, the organisers of the international art exhibition scheduled the event to be held on December 12, 2020.

“We expect circumstances by then (November 1, 2021) would be conducive for visitors, artists, staff, and others for a safe and complete Biennale gathering,” the Foundation said in a statement.

Meanwhile, the Foundation and its programmes will continue to function. The fourth edition of the Students’ Biennale will take place online, and the process towards the online opening on February 21, 2021, has commenced under the leadership of five curator-mentors — Adip Dutta, Archana Hande, Manoj Vyloor, Suresh K Nair, and Vasudha Thozhur.
