Kochi DCP Aishwarya Dongre has again hit the headlines for her controversial action. This time for suspending a civil police officer who took the initiative to install a coffee vending machine at the Kalamasherry police station.

Civil Police Officer CP Raghu has been suspended for inaugurating the coffee vending machine without informing his superiors. He was also suspended as he had given an interview to media outlets during the inauguration ceremony without seeking prior approval from his superiors. Rumours claim that the CPO was suspended as he hadn't invited the DCP to the inauguration.

Raghu has installed the machine by investing his own money along with the help of his colleagues. According to reports, Raghu had taken prior approval from higher police officials and has also received applause from higher police authorities for the initiative as part of the Janamaitri project, which aims at making the police station more people friendly.

This is not the first time that the Kalamasherry police station has shown people-friendly measures. During the time of lockdown in the wake of Coronavirus, the police officials of Kalamasherry station had carried out the free distribution of food kits among the homeless persons and even fed the street dogs.

Meanwhile, this is not the first time the Kochi DCP has taken insensitive measures. Earlier, she had taken a strange stand against a lady police officer who failed to recognize the DCP in her civilian clothes. The incident was that the lady police guard stopped the DCP and sought information. Despite explaining the reason that the check was routinely carried out due to Covid-19 restrictions and that she was not identified in her civilian clothes, the policewoman was transferred from her guard duty to traffic.
