In a shocking incident, local residents and Kerala Police rescued two children – a girl and boy – who were locked inside their house by their parents in Malappuram, Kerala. Police took the children’s parents into custody.

According to reports, the couple locked the children aged six and four-years-old, inside the house. The children were left starving without water and food. Reportedly, the locals alerted the panchayat authorities after noticing the parents leave the children without food. The panchayat authorities alerted the police on the children’s condition. The police and locals broke open the door to find the children unconscious.

According to reports, the children were unable to walk or stand. The younger child could not open his eyes. After the children were given biscuit and water their condition improved but were still weak. The locals rushed the children to Nilambur District Hospital. At the hospital, doctors found bruises on the children’s bodies.

Meanwhile, the police took the parents into custody for questioning. The couple told police that the children were their own and they had to lock the children inside the house so that they wouldn’t leave the house. Police are currently investigating the matter.
