Joyce George, former Idukki MP, has come under attack for making derogatory remarks against Rahul Gandhi, the senior Congress leader and Wayanad MP.

Kerala Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala has demanded the arrest of Joyce George for making derogatory remarks against Rahul Gandhi. Chennithala said that he had made such a disgraceful remark that a case needs to be booked against him.

The Opposition leader even said that Joyce made such remarks as he was startled over seeing the large crowd that gathers at Rahul Gandhi's venue. He demanded strict action against Joyce. Chennithala said that a case must be lodged against Joyce for making such anti-women statements and he should be arrested.

While reacting over the incident, senior Congress leader Oommen Chandy said that Joyce's comments were unfortunate and painful. He further added that such references should not have come from Kerala. He said that Joyce insulted the women of Kerala. He further added that legal action will be taken against Joyce for his remarks.

Meanwhile, Idukki district Congress committee president Ibrahimkutty Kallar said that his remarks showed how he has been groomed and what actually he is. He even said that they will be approaching Election Commission over the incident and also organise a protest in Idukki later in the day.

Along with the video of the incident, Congress tweeted, "We condemn this misogynistic comment by Joyce George. It’s clear CPIM is feeling the heat of losing elections.”

On Monday, while campaigning for State Power Minister MM Mani at Erattayar in Idukki, Joyce George said, "Rahul Gandhi's programme is such that he will only visit women colleges. He will go there and teach girls to bend. My dear children, please don't bend and stand in front of him...he is not married."
