Kerala man reportedly slit 11-yr-old son’s throat, and drowns youngest in pond before killing self

An eleven-year-old boy was found dead inside a house with his throat slit in Navayikkulam, Thiruvananthapuram, on Saturday. Police identified the deceased as Navayikkulam native Safeer’s son Althaf, while Safeer’s body was recovered from a pond. Meanwhile, the search is going on for the latter’s youngest son Anshad.

The incident happened at 11 am on Saturday and they realised that Safeer and Anshad were missing. A search operation led by locals was able to trace Safeer’s autorickshaw near the pond. When police inspected the house on suspicion that Safeer and his youngest son jumped into the pond, they came across Althaf’s body tied up inside the house.

After Safeer’s body was found, the police started a search operation in the same pond and after a few hours, they discovered Anshad’s body. According to reports, Safeer and his wife had some family issues and were living apart for a long period. Supposedly, Safeer suffered from a mental disorder and it led to domestic violence.

Initial police investigation reveals that Safeer murdered Althaf as well as Anshad, before killing himself by drowning in the nearby pond. Further investigation is ongoing.
