Kerala Health Minister KK Shailaja has confirmed that the State has prepared an action plan for the successful completion of the upcoming vaccination drive on Sunday. Around 133 centres will be established across the 14 districts for the distribution of the Covid-19 vaccine. According to the Centre, the vaccination drive will begin on January 16.
The Health Minister said, “The Department of Health has formulated an action plan to ensure that the Covid-19 vaccine is delivered soon after arriving and that the vaccination is successful. During the launch, as many as 133 centres will be set up for Covid-19 vaccination in the state.”
According to the action plan, around 100 people will be vaccinated at one centre. A total of 3,58,574 people have registered for the vaccination in the state.
In Thiruvananthapuram and Kozhikode districts, around eleven centres will be introduced and a total of 12 centres will be established in Ernakulam district. The vaccination centre will have a waiting area, vaccination, and observation rooms, which will function adhering to Covid-19 protocol. Priority will be given to healthcare staff and frontline workers. For the frontline workers, the vaccine will be given free of cost.
Aiming for the smooth functioning of the vaccine drive, control rooms will be introduced across districts for proper coordination and district collectors will be in charge of leading the vaccination drive.
Meanwhile, ahead of the roll-out of the Covid-19 vaccines, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will conduct a virtual meeting with Chief Ministers. During the meeting, the Chief Ministers will share details regarding preparations made for the vaccination drive.
