Kerala CPM minister Sudhakaran allegedly fired office staff for marrying out of caste

While the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has always proclaimed itself a very progressive movement, there have been instances over the years where they have behaved contradictorily. Recently, PWD Minister G Sudhakaran had reportedly fired his personal staff for having married a woman of another caste.

The minister’s office assistant Venu had married a woman from another caste, and he recently received a termination letter from Sudhakaran’s Private Secretary. Venu told a news portal that when he had told the Minister of his marriage, the latter had already made a similar decision. Interestingly, the minister had reportedly claimed that he fired Venu citing that if the marriage happened then it would “communal disharmony”.

The same party had claimed that the women of the state are the driving force of the renaissance during the 620-km long women’s wall in January 2019. Yet, reports indicate that the same party had fired a youngster for marrying a woman of a different caste. During the inauguration of the women’s wall, Minister G Sudhakaran had announced that there was a possibility of communal polarisation in the state. However, with his recent choice, he is the one to have started the polarisation in Kerala.
