From dancing to a parody of the hit Enjoy Enjammi to holding up an umbrella for a stray dog during the rain, the Kerala State Police Department is rather cool. The Kerala Police has now demonstrated that they have a sense of humour in a video they have shared on their social media platform. The video, which has gone viral, is a meme on their arrest of a man, who mocked and challenged the department on social meaid.

The said man, Lijo Joy, who hails from Chadayamangalam, Kollam, shared a video post of himself verbally abusing a woman Instagram user from Ayoor. When someone pointed out in a comment that he would wind up in trouble if the police were alerted about his derogatory comments, Lijo in a live share, is heard mocking and even challenging the police to arrest him for voicing his opinion. If at first Lijo did not seem affected by the fact that the police had filed a case against him, he seemed to have realised the gravity of his actions when the police posted his crime on their social media handle, and soon went into hiding. The police however traced him using the mobile phone tower location.

He was arrested by the Chadayamangalam police in Hosur, Bengaluru. The video on Lijo's arrest contains shots of Lijo’s jabs against the Kerala Police, audio of his abusive comments towards the Instagram user, shots of his arrest... interspersed with scenes from Malayalam and Tamil movies. A seemingly shamefaced Lijo led to the Chadayamangalam Police Station and the Tamil dialogue at the end of video loosely translated into ‘A crime committed unknowingly is forgivable, but a crime committed knowingly, unforgivable’ in English, is drawing applauds from Netizens.

Just recently, the Kerala Police’s video of themselves grooving to a parody version of the hit indie song Enjoy Enjaami went trending on social media. The video, which has nine uniformed police personnel wearing masks, while maintaining social distancing, was created to spread awareness about social distancing norms and other precautionary measures to prevent the spread of the coronavirus

The Malayalam lyrics of the song focus on the need for social distancing, wearing masks and other precautionary measures that should be observed by people. The video also talks about the importance of getting vaccinated.

The video, directed by Kerala Police VP Pramod Kumar, who is the deputy director and Public Relations Officer at the state Police Media Centre. The song, which has lyrics by Aditya S Nair, was rendered by Nahoom Abraham and Nila Joseph. The fun yet informative video has racked over four lakh views since it was uploaded.
