Senior Congress leader and Wayanad MP Rahul Gandhi said that harmony between all is important to start Kerala's economy. Rahul is currently campaigning in Kerala ahead of the state Assembly election.

“Harmony between all is important to start the economy in Kerala. Division, anger and hatred will weaken Kerala. Do not let the Left and the RSS ideologies of hatred damage the future of Kerala,” Rahul said, adding that Covid-19 showed that people must stand together to take the country forward and that is how it should be in Kerala.

During a corner meeting, Rahul said that if the United Democratic Front’s (UDF) election comes to power, rubber farmers will get Rs 250 per kilogram. “The first thing I would like to say is that when the UDF comes to power, we will guarantee Rs 250 per kg for rubber. But I want you to understand that we are not doing rubber farmers a favour or as a charity. We are giving Rs 250 MSP because, without this, we cannot start the economy of Kerala,” Rahul said.

“When we did MNREGA at the national level, many economists came and said we are wasting money. After 2-3 years, the same economist told me that MNREGA has started the rural economy in India,” the senior Congress leader said.

The Wayanad MP said that two things are required for the economy to function and create jobs. “Firstly, harmony is needed in the state if the economy needs to function and create jobs. Secondly, we need to put money in people’s hands. That is what we are going to do when the UDF comes to power,” Rahul said.

Rahul also attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the problems faced by the common man. “Modi has taken money from the pockets of the common man. Modi is an instrument who works for only 2 to 3 people in the country who wants to take India’s wealth from India,” he said.

Rahul also attacked Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan over fuel prices and taking money from poor people. “Now, the Kerala Chief Minister is sitting in his car and keeps turning the key. But the car doesn’t move forward as there is no petrol in the car. Every day, the Prime Minister and the Chief Minister keeps taking money from autorickshaw drivers, those using scooter and the car, Rahul said, adding that the CM and PM also take money from housewives when they are forced to pay more for gas.
