According to reports, two ATMs in Kalliasseri at Kannur were destroyed and the culprits looted almost Rs 20 lakh from the machines. The burglars robbed Rs 1.75 Lakh from India One ATM located at Mangadu Bazar and Rs 18 lakh from SBI ATM at Kalliasseri.

On Sunday, the unidentified robbers opened the ATM chests using gas cutters. The SBI machine was unobserved as the shutters covered the damages, meanwhile, the India One ATM was left open, and people found it vandalised and robbed. The situation at the SBI machine came to light when the agency reached the ATM to fill it. They informed authorities about the amount that was there in the machine.

Police believe that the same three-member group were also the mastermind behind the attempt to ransack a room near the toddy shop at Mangadu. However, they fled from the scene as occupants noticed them. The police reached the spot and recovered a bike, which is expected to belong to the robbers. The forensic team and dog squad reached the spot to collect evidence. A case has been registered and the investigation is underway.
