A helicopter carrying Abu Dhabi-based businessman MA Yousuf Ali and his wife made an emergency landing in a swamp near a residential area in Panangad, Kochi at around 9 in the morning. According to several sources, the emergency landing was caused by a technical fault and as the landing was in a secluded area, a major mishap was avoided.

While everyone aboard the helicopter was rushed to a private hospital in the city, the authorities have informed the media that no one was injured and everyone is doing all right. Sources also noted that no one was visibly injured as they were removed from the helicopter, but authorities wanted to be thorough. Currently, the police and technical team are probing the helicopter to uncover what went wrong in the first place.

According to reports, Yusuf Ali and his wife were travelling to Lakeshore Hospital from his home in Kadavanthara. They were reportedly visiting a relative admitted to the hospital. Panangad Circle Inspector has claimed that the initial report is that it was a case of power failure. The CI added that more information could be obtained by talking to the pilot. The officials reported that despite it being a safe landing, it was a risky attempt. While the plot was empty, it was still a residential location and electrical lines were surrounding the location.
