The Kerala High Court has granted bail to former PWD Minister and a prominent Muslim League leader Ebrahim Kunju, the fifth accused in the Palarivattom flyover case. Considering his bad health, the Court granted him bail. Even the state government did not oppose his bail application citing health condition.

According to the bail condition, he has to surrender his passport and needs to pay Rs 2 lakh as bond. Also, he is not allowed to travel outside the state and has to completely corporate with the investigating officials.

Earlier, he had filed an application seeking permission to contest in the election of the Muslim Education Association. However, he agreed to withdraw all applications filed, including this one too. Following these conditions, bail was granted.

On November 28, 2020, Kunju was arrested following irregularities in the construction of Palarivattom Flyover in Kochi. However, now the flyover is under reconstruction after being shut for several months.

On October 12, 2016, the flyover was inaugurated, but due to irregularities in the construction, it was closed for traffic on May 1, 2019, owing to public safety.
