Five people from Chirakkara, Kollam, were killed in a road accident at Kallambalam, Thiruvananthapuram, late last night. The deceased are Vishnu, Rajeev, Sudheesh, Arun and Suryodakumar.
The car bearing a press sticker was coming to Thiruvananthapuram from Kollam when it collided with a fish lorry. The car caught fire during the accident and was gutted. Police, fire force and locals rushed to the spot for rescue operations. The police will be checking nearby CCTV images to discover the cause of the accident.
Two of the bodies are kept at Medical College Hospital, two at Valiyakunnu Taluk Hospital and one at Parippally Medical College Hospital. The police have taken the driver of the lorry into custody.
